DT Screenings is a collection of digital content conceptualized, written, produced, directed, shot, and edited by the students of Digital Arts & Cinema Technology High School in Brooklyn, inspired by their constant exploration of artivism - the combination of art and activism - to raise awareness and promote social change. These stop motion animations and short films represent the distinct perspectives that embody the diverse community at Digital Tech.
About the artists
Digital Arts & Cinema Technology High School is a specialized public school focused in technical programs that empower students with the academic, creative, and professional skills needed to become innovators in their respective fields. Every DT student chooses between two four-year tracks: Digital Arts or Cinema Production. Both tracks immerse students in the technical and conceptual aspects of art making, fostering growth and understanding of their own place within art and cinema history, while simultaneously developing their distinct creative voices.
This inaugural year, DT students were finalists at the AT&T Film Invitational (part of the All American High School Film Festival), exhibited various pieces of art at the historic Brooklyn Borough Hall as part of the Brooklyn Borough Arts Festival, and have partnered with Pratt Institute, BRIC Arts/Media House, Lincoln Film Society, and Brooklyn Arts Council.
