
ChaNorth, Chashama’s upstate artist residency located in the Hudson Valley since 2006.
ChaNorth residency offering an opportunity for 5-7 artists to live and work in the Hudson Valley for four weeks. Resident artists will be provided with a private furnished bedroom, semi-furnished studio, and food. The shared kitchen is stocked with fresh, local produce and whole grains. Resident artist are gathered twice a week to share meal and converse in potluck dinner style.
Fostering community engagement, strengthening and supporting our local community, chaNorth is collaborating with McEnroe’s Education Garden where each week residents asked to participate in a 3 hours work exchange, and in return, artists are given organic seasonal produce from the garden.
ChaNorth residency offers artists multiple opportunities to introduce, share work and network including studio visit 2-3 times per session from curators, critics, gallerists, residency directors. Previous studio visitors included, Nora Khan, writer focusing on emerging issues within digital art and the philosophy of technology, Joel Kuennen, Chief Operations Officer and a Senior Editor at ArtSlant, Will Hutnick, artist and curator residency director at the Wassaic Project.
ChaNorth offer a fellowship award, for a young artist, age under 30, and a solo show award. ChaNorth provides opportunity for artists to submit for our yearly selected group show. Both the solo show and yearly group show is presented at Chashama exhibition space, New York City.
ChaNorth is currently accepting applications for their 2018 Summer Session.
ChaNorth accepts applications in all creative fields, including but is not limited to visual arts, writing, choreography, music composition, and performance.
