Allison earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Columbia University. During her studies, she completed advanced coursework in orthopedics, and specialized coursework in foot and ankle, performing arts, sports, and pelvic health. Allison focused her research on helping to develop an injury prevention screening tool for adolescent dancers She later went on to present her findings on the relationship between compensated turnout and injuries in adolescent dancers at a national conference. While completing clinical rotations, Allison gained experience within the medical and cardiothoracic intensive care units, acute rehabilitation, acute care, and outpatient orthopedic settings.
Prior to Columbia, Allison earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Fordham University. While at Fordham, she worked in the Sports Medicine department in addition to dancing with and choreographing for Fordham’s dance company, Expressions Dance Alliance.
Allison first realized her fascination with movement while training as a pre-professional ballet dancer with the New Jersey School of Ballet. To further her training and interest, she attended summer intensive programs with the American Ballet Theatre, Manhattan Youth Ballet, and The Rock School. Throughout her dance career, Allison experienced injuries and surgeries. Her experiences inspired her thoroughly investigate injuries and develop unique treatment plans to her patients. Allison’s goal for her patients is to have an increased sense of confidence and success with their return to activity, training, and performance.
When not in the clinic, you can find Allison taking dance, cycling, Barre, or Pilates classes. She is currently pursuing a comprehensive mat and equipment Pilates Teacher certification.
