Juan Correa received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy, Masters in Anatomy and Clinical Health, and Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Delaware. As an athletic trainer, Juan brings his experience in sports medicine from the collegiate and high school levels to SPEAR.
Juan’s interest in physical therapy began as a high school athlete after attending physical therapy as a patient. During his rehabilitation, he interacted with many healthcare professionals, but the hospitality and hands-on care from his physical therapist always stood out to him during his recovery. He looks forward to a career in physical therapy and the opportunity to connect with his patients and leave an impact on their lives both in and out of the clinic.
Juan’s background in the healthcare field includes over 1,500 hours in athletic training as a student in the University of Delaware’s football, track and field, soccer, and softball teams, and later as the head athletic trainer at Rising Sun High School in Rising Sun, Maryland. As a rehab aide, Juan trained and served as a medical interpreter for his clinic’s Spanish-speaking patients and the physical therapists. Juan’s clinical experience in physical therapy includes sports and orthopedic injuries, as well as neurological and geriatric rehabilitation. He also has experience in the acute rehabilitation hospital and medical ICU settings. As a therapist, Juan’s interests lie in orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation that uses manual therapy, individualized care, and evidenced-based practice.
In his spare time, Juan likes to play and watch soccer, go to the gym, play video games, and spend time with his loved ones. As a big foodie, Juan also likes to eat and cook adventurous food and looks forward to all of the calories NYC has to offer.
